The client had one clear wish: to feel at home in a true Parisian apartment. The flat on Rue Pastourelle had none of that. When Studio Ines Huertas first walked in, there were no mouldings, no parquet and no architectural detail at all. There was just a long, narrow, very rectangular plan, with a layout that didn't work.
The challenge was twofold: rebuild the layout from scratch, and give the apartment the soul and elegance it had never had, without it turning into a pastiche.

Circulation in the light
The studio started with the plan. Because the apartment is so linear, Ines placed the rooms side by side along the façade and connected them through what she calls an "invisible corridor", running alongside the windows.
There is no dark central hallway. You move from the living room to the kitchen, the bedroom and the bathroom in one continuous line, in daylight, with views opening from one room to the next. In 50 m², this gives every space natural light and a sense of generosity.
