Stone · Spain
A cream to beige marble from the Monte Coto area of Alicante in Spain, one of the most widely used warm marbles.
Warm, calm colour that is easy to live with
Widely available in many formats and grades
Good value compared with Italian marbles
Quality varies a lot between grades
Can show water marks and etching
Polished floors can be slippery when wet
Wipe spills quickly, especially acids such as lemon, wine, vinegar and many bathroom cleaners, which etch the surface.
Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and reseal periodically; honed surfaces show etching less than polished ones.
Quarried in Europe; choose a single batch to avoid waste from mismatched tiles.
