The Soft Lighting Edit

A room rarely feels warm because of one ceiling fixture.

Atmosphere is usually built lower down, through light placed beside a chair, on a shelf, across a dining table or in the corner of a room that would otherwise disappear after sunset.

Portable and table lamps make that process more flexible. They allow the lighting to follow the way a space is used, and their scale means they can become small pieces of sculpture during the day.

This Edit brings together ten lamps that produce more than illumination. They create pools of light, soften darker corners and change the feeling of a room without changing the room itself.

1. Cestita

Cestita has the ease of an object carried from one place to another. Its small timber frame supports an opal shade, combining warm material with softly diffused light.

It feels equally natural on a low table, beside a bed or on the floor near a chair. The handle is not merely decorative. It expresses the idea that light can move through the home as it is needed.

The Flowerpot VP9 translates Verner Panton's familiar double dome silhouette into a portable format. Its compact scale and broad colour range make it easy to introduce into both restrained and more expressive interiors.

Use one as a concentrated accent, or repeat several across a long dining table or shelving system. The form is recognisable enough to add character without taking over the entire composition.
