Advantages and limitations
Advantages
Smooth, even grain that takes a fine finish
Warms beautifully over time
Classic for cabinetry and furniture
Limitations
Colour changes noticeably with light, so shadows from objects can show at first
Softer than oak
Not for wet surfaces
05
Care and installation
Maintenance and care
Dust and wipe with a soft, damp cloth; avoid harsh cleaners.
Move objects around in the first months so the colour deepens evenly.
Installation considerations
- 1Let the timber acclimatise to the room before machining or fitting.
- 2Specify a balancing veneer on the back of veneered panels and seal all edges.
- 3Agree grain direction and leaf matching on doors and drawer fronts before production.
06
Sustainability
Grown in managed North American hardwood forests; veneer makes efficient use of the timber.
