Agence Véronique Cotrel

Paris, France

Agence Véronique Cotrel is a Paris-based interior architecture and design studio founded in 2010 by Véronique Cotrel and François Mille, with offices in Paris, Le Touquet and New York. With over two hundred completed renovation projects and a design language rooted in what Véronique describes as a new Parisian classicism, the agency works across the full spectrum of Parisian residential typologies from Haussmann apartments and Art Deco buildings to contemporary loft conversions and private houses, guiding each project from first sketch to final handover with a rigour and creative sensitivity that has made it one of the most published interior architecture practices in France.

  • Agence Véronique Cotrel approaches every project from a single founding conviction: that a coherent interior is one where every room resonates with the next, where the whole is always more considered than the sum of its parts. This is why the agency consistently works on complete renovation projects rather than room-by-room commissions, applying a full spatial vision from the first plan through to the final material choice and the last detail of every finish.

The agency's creative and operational structure reflects this philosophy. Véronique Cotrel serves as creative director, bringing a personal artistic and sensory vision to every project from the earliest sketches through to showroom selections, site meetings and the refinement of every material and detail. François Mille, whose background is in hotel management, brings an equally rigorous organisational discipline to the strategic direction of each project, ensuring that the creative ambition is always matched by a clear plan, a detailed budget broken down by trade, and a realistic timeline that is held to throughout construction.

Every project is assigned a dedicated project architect who serves as the client's primary point of contact from first sketch to handover. This continuity of relationship, one consistent voice throughout the entire process, is one of the qualities that clients return for and that the agency considers non-negotiable regardless of project scale or complexity.

The studio has developed deep expertise across the major architectural codes of Parisian residential design, from the classical proportions and ornamental richness of Haussmann buildings to the geometric rigour of Art Deco, the stripped-back clarity of the Modern period and the spatial freedom of contemporary design. This range, combined with a network of artisanal collaborators who carry these traditions forward with genuine craft knowledge, allows the agency to work with historical buildings as partners rather than constraints, finding within their specific character and heritage the terms for a design that is genuinely new without ever feeling imposed.

Recent completed projects include Des courbes et des lacets, a complete renovation of a Parisian apartment with Eiffel Tower views distinguished by its organic curved forms and layered material palette. Héritage Parisien, a historic apartment in Paris's seventeenth arrondissement, demonstrates the agency's deep knowledge of classical Parisian architectural codes. Stairway to Heaven, a duplex in the heart of the Marais, shows the studio's ability to work with complex multi-level spatial configurations. Nouvelle Athènes, an apartment in the historic Nouvelle Athènes neighbourhood, and The Pink Lady, a colour-led residential commission on the Left Bank, complete a portfolio of exceptional range and consistent quality.
