Ay Illuminate is a Dutch lighting brand with fifteen years of experience producing handcrafted decorative lighting that takes its formal language directly from naturally existing structures, forms and materials. Working with artisans across Asia, Africa and Europe, the brand creates what it calls Authentics, lighting pieces that are the result of an innovative approach to shaping natural and waste materials into objects of genuine beauty. Each piece is made by craftspeople with unique and specialist competence, resulting in lighting that carries both the character of the maker and the honesty of the material it is made from.

Ay Illuminate produces a wide and distinctive collection of decorative pendant and table lighting built entirely around natural materials and handcraft traditions from across the world. Bamboo, rattan, buri, paper, sisal, cotton and silk are shaped by specialist artisans into forms that are quietly sculptural, deeply tactile and entirely unlike the machine-made lighting that surrounds them in most interiors.
The brand's Authentics collection spans over twenty named families, each exploring a different material or formal approach. The Pebble family, available in black, grey, terracotta and sand in three sizes plus wall-mounted formats, translates the smooth organic geometry of a river stone into a pendant form of genuine sculptural presence. The Hozuki family, available in natural and indigo across four sizes, takes its name from the Japanese lantern plant and produces a pendant of extraordinary lightness and warmth. The Bamboo, Bell, Buri Bulb, Rattan Bulb and Black Bird's Nest families each bring a different expression of natural material craft to the pendant category. The Nama, Koro, Hyo, May, Twiggy, Umut, Thin Wood, Plum, Pickle and Doppio families extend the range across a remarkable breadth of form and material, while the Z series floor and table lamps with their interchangeable covers in sisal net, paper, silk, cotton and cashmere offer a customisable approach to natural material lighting for residential environments.
